Linked parts for micro-cold-forming process chains

During fabrication of micro parts these are usually separated early in the process, increasing the handling effort in subsequent processes. In the subproject C5 "linked parts" methods were developed that keep the parts linked during the entire multi-stage manufacturing processes. The objective of the project was to investigate the manufacturing environment required for mass production in linked parts as well as the synchronization of different types of linked parts. Extending the investigated handling and positioning devices and providing appropriate storage technologies a high output rate was achieved, the amount of good parts was increased and production became more economical. In addition to the consideration of individual process chains, these objectives were achieved by tolerance matching for the synchronization of two linked parts in a station.
